Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling professional career in Italy. The first time she acted was in 1996's TV film Her Costly Affair. It was a struggle to land the role she wanted for her in Starship Troopers. In the beginning, it was difficult for her to transition from modeling to acting. This is because most models aren't good actors. They are typically only given small, insignificant parts. Amy did not give up and eventually she landed bigger roles in the films Varsity Blues and The 70s. She then ventured into the lead roles in the 2005 romantic comedy Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy finally got the recognition she'd been looking for for over a decade. Amy continued to make major films such as the Crank series with Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she was a well loved recurring character.
