April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside Ross at Tokyo for her third gold medal in the coming days. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. As she is 39 she could have her final chance. She is still confident but she is not sure. Ross was reported in NBC Boston as saying that if you play your best, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. "I'm also going to try to have a bit of luck." Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. She was able to participate in many sports at Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball, track and running. In her final game she was clearly the standout. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball as per her college bio. For her efforts she was awarded an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. She also received an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles in the year 2017. The reality is that Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. As a matter of fact, Ross has won several important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One is a volleyball legend. From 2007 until 2013 she played by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the world stage. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympics. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team along with Kerri Jennings won the gold. As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before her pro career. She was a player in high school, and even before hitting the beaches as a professional. The time she spent at USC was a memorable one. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. Also, she was a key player for helping the Trojans to make it to their way to the Final Four. Her heart was broken through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore years, yet she went on to be an All-American again. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, she was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in America by The Honda Sports Award. Ross had been an international studies student at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was in her sophomore year at USC. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
