Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news site has a TV personality, author, and charitable donor. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first foreign student to serve as president in the famous debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. After graduation she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice platform that provided critical views regarding the state of affairs. It was her celebrity that led to the recruitment of a number of prominent contributors to share their thoughts on news as well as politics and culture. Arianna was famous when she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate for the California Recall election to succeed the former governor Davis. Arianna was also part of the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes placed her at 12 on its list for the Most Popular Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. Then she was appointed the head of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father, but it was her bond with her mother which shaped her. Even as a young girl she displayed leadership qualities that she still is known for. In the year she turned sixteen, she left the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an honorary degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own novels with his help.
