Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids at one point, realized that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a creative mind. Before she learned to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. She got her first guitar at age 8 and started performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. Gold Band Records is a small label that is independent. Although she became an established local celebrity while at high school, her dreams were much bigger. The day she graduated high school, it was 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show was in need of the services of a new singer by the time. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting to RCA Records. In 1974, she quit The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her singles like Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You to Wagoner after their breakup. The song reached the top of the charts at. The first time it made it to number 1 was in 1974.
